Reclamation: Extinction Brink
Feedback on the subtitle maybe? I thought that "The Brink of Extinction" was a bit of a long subtitle so "Extinction Brink" sounded much nicer, also kind of sums up the game considering the Human race are basically on the brink of extinction thanks to the zombie/creature assholes coming in wiping out the human population D:
Feedback would be awesome thanks! :D
The Medic
THE MEDIC
CONCEPT IMAGE N/A
The
medic is most certainly a person you want to have on your team, they could most
definitely be game changer between life and death when you’re out on the field
or even when you’re simply at you camp and you’re one of the few un luckly
people to be nomming down on a chocolate bar, and you come across that rogue peanut.
When it comes to having a tactical advantage over the
other team a medic is definitely one way to achieve that, the ability to heal
players when they’re down or heal then at a very much increased rate than any
other class, stop the spread of infection and other medical abilities is
definitely the best way to ensure a safe mission, or even a safe living
environment.The Tank
THE TANK
CONCEPT IMAGE N/A
The
tank is someone you most definitely do not want to have a 1 on 1 with the tanks
extreme strength makes it extremely hard to defeat in a battle, one punch would
seem like a 10 tonne truck being thrown at you, BUT everyone has a weakness,
because of the tanks immense size and weight it does however slow him down, his
ability to move quickly is by far the tank’s downfall.
The tank has the
ability to hold much larger and heavier object which an average sized human,
would not be able to hold, that also includes much more brutal and superior
weapons like the LMG, he also can carry a lot more supplies which means you’ll
run out of supplies before he does.. so don’t try playing the waiting game with
a tankThe Soldier
THE SOLDIER
CONCEPT IMAGE N/A
The soldier is one of the gun specialists,
they are handy to have if you’re going to be in a face to face confrontation
with the creatures.
The soldiers main preference in weapons are assault rifles,
sub machine guns, rocket/grenade launchers and many different types of
explosives.
When
it comes to a physical confrontation with the soldier it’s strength but also
the agility give the soldier a massive advantage over the opponent. You can
always expect to see the soldier on the front line of the fight ready to slay
some creatures.
The Engineer
THE
ENGINEER
The Engineer is one of the brains of the group, with
his ability to conjure up anything from small little explosives to large
fortified barricades with turrets.
His favourite weapons are of course the powerful type,
one’s that make a big bang! Anything from Revolvers to shotguns to rocket
launchers (it’s really quite concerning…)
When
it comes to the Engineer he is more of a support kind of person, he loves a bit
of action but he feels much safer knowing that he has a gigantic barricade with
his AI gadgets to watch his back for him, but in saying that he doesn’t mind
getting his hands dirty and going on an all out ‘Z’ slaughtering rampage! When
he has to of course!
The Technician
THE TECHNICIAN
The Technician would definitely be the nerdy one of
the group, doesn’t like confrontation, and would rather not have to face any of
the Z’s.
When
it comes to the technician, you will rarely come across one that is “Alone” you
will always find his with his AI companions if you aren’t only just meeting his
companions, the Technician is a Master is R.C Robotics and would rather chill
in a safe spot and let his robots go out and do all the dangerous work over
going out and actually doing it himself (Who could blame him? I’d rather do
that now!)

The Scout
THE SCOUT
The
scout is the class which is more on the stealth and agile side of things, the
scout is unmatched when it comes to moving around the environment quickly,
undetected, and silent.
The
scout is someone you would send in if you needed a job done quickly and
efficiently, like gathering supplies, scouting ahead, setting a trap,
assassinating someone, this list is endless! The scout is the first of the 3
assault classes and is best suited for a person who love’s their stealthy
assassin play style.
If you’re going to be staging a raid on an enemy camp
site, or go scavenging in the city, you’ll best be wanting a scout or 2 on your
team!

Character Modelling!
I've started modelling some of the characters now that i'm going to be putting into my animation, so far i'm doing the Technician, and considering it's my first ever real character model that I've put actual time and effort into, it's coming along quite nicely!
I'm having a bit of trouble doing his shoes at the moment, they're looking a bit more like squished bananas..... which is part of the reason i decided to hide them from the render above
hahaha
this a quick environment that i did for the technician, was one of the first environments I've ever done so don't be to harsh ;) haha
Cheers!

Street Overview
The Streets where the magic happens.
So in the picture I've have above, it's just some rough blocks to show where buildings are going to be and ally ways in the city.
The whole clip is going to consist of 2 different streets, the first one (shown closest to the camera with the green and read blocks on it, is the street where i'll be introducing the Scout, Engineer,Medic & Technician.
In the picture you can't exactly see where the Medic and Technician are going to be coming from, but behind the green building in the ally way, is where the Scout is first going to be seen at the start of the clip. and at the red wall... that is where the Engineer is going to make his explosive entrance to the road.
On the other street towards the purple building, just a bit further to the right is where i am going to be having the massive zombie slaughtering scene featuring the tank and the soldier, should be pretty interesting!
I'm not going to be spending as much time on the other buildings, i should be able to gun out some buildings pretty quickly considering i don't really have to do any interior and alot of the props i would need if any, are already done! :)
i haven't exactly marked out where the destroyed cars are but just picture the streets with loads and loads of cars scattered all over the place!

Information
So I feel like my speech lacked a lot of information on quite a bit, mainly because of the immense amount of detail in which i could have rambled on for many a year, talking about the character development, their personalities and unique traits, how they all sort of each other how they work to balance each-other out.
Because it ties in with my game which I have been planning for months and months and months there is really a fine line in which I tried to stay on the simple side of.... Between talking about information which relates to the game I'm making and relates to the animation I'm doing for the project. That and the pure fact I was nervous made me forget a lot of shit and ramble on :P
Soo if there is anything I missed out on or any information about the game or animation I'm doing that I may or may not have mentioned feel free to ask :) either in person or or email me at kidd.oh@me.com and I'll be happy to let you know what's been going on! :D always happy to see people taking an interest! Haha
Thanks! :D

In Other News!
So i've just bought myself one of these bad boys.
The Intuos 5 Wacom Tablet (Large)
It's a bit of a difference having a gigantic tablet now over the tiny one which i take to tafe everyday, I'm loving it though, much more comfortable to work with and the buttons also make things pretty quick and easy i reckon. Still finding it a little hard to adjust to but i'm getting there :)I'll definitely be able to get a lot more work done, my lazy ass found having to pull out my tablet from my bag and plug it in every day was getting really tedious. Having my tablet just there and ready to go will give me a lot more motivation to do some work now!
(Me doing work? shocker right :P )
going to upload the first bit of work that i do with the new tablet soon! :)
Colour & Progress
I've been working through a couple of different colour schemes for my animation... so far i'm really leaning towards a sort of grey kind of feel, it works really well in the Crysis 2 "The Wall" Trailer.
Crysis 2 Official Trailer: The Wall.
This is just an update on my progress so far with the outside of the building, Not Much has changed except for where there are chunks missing from the building the inside faces are now broken concrete/rock instead of just the brick texture. The picture has been rendered from 3DS max and using the lighting and render settings I've given the environment a greyish cold & dead feel to the area. I think it will just make the characters and other certain aspects like fire stand out a lot better as well!
My Building Exterior.
I've been working more on the interior a little bit now, in the second room i've got some conveyor belts which are going along the back and right hand wall with a couple of crates on them, next step is to get some form of a big machine, some pipes connected to the walls and possibly a few computers and monitors as well, just to show that the place was some form of small factory/ postal service company. When the room is complete I'll post a before and after shot up on the blog to keep everyone up to date on the progress!

Decisions:NEED HELP!
On a Semi-related note to this assignment, I've been having a lot of trouble deciding which Game engine would be best to use for this Massive Multiplayer Online game and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
the choices i'm currently tied between at the moment are
Unity
Unity (also called Unity3D) is a cross-platform game engine with a built-in IDE developed by Unity Technologies. It is used to develop video games for web plugins, desktop platforms, consoles and mobile devices, and is utilized by over one million developers. Unity is primarily used to create mobile and web games, but can also deploy games to consoles or the PC. The game engine was developed in C/C++, and is able to support code written in C# or javascript. It grew from an OS X supported game development tool in 2005 to the multi-platform game engine that it is today.
(From Wikipedia)
Unreal Development Kit (UDK)
The Unreal Engine is a game engine developed by Epic Games, first illustrated in the 1998 first-person shooter game Unreal. Although primarily developed for first-person shooters, it has been successfully used in a variety of other genres, including stealth, MMORPGs and other RPGs. With its code written in C++, the Unreal Engine features a high degree of portability and is a tool used by many game developers today.
(From Wikipedia)
I've heard a lot of good and bad things about both the engines so i really have no clue what to go with D:
HELP PLEASE!
thanks!

Brief Class Introduction
What I'm going to be trying to achieve from this project is basically a class introduction trailery-kind-of thing really for the game that I am working on.
It's going to give the viewers a brief overview of the different skills and just overall let viewers meet the characters really.
The scenario is there is a building basically which the group are going to try to all get to and each and everyone will have to use their sort of "attributes and abilities" to get to ie. the scout will show off his agility and ability to parkour over obstacles with great ease and speed for example. The building I'm talking about by the way many of you if you've peaked onto my screen in Mondays class with Ryan, I actually have been constructing in 3ds Max. Haha It's a sort of a 2 birds 1 stone scenario I can build this building for both assignments and do the interior for the first assignment! :) win win! :) I hope.. Haha.
As far as a storyboard goes so far, it's all in writing but a much more visually pleasing version of the story board will be released soon! :)
-cheers
Kyle.

The initial idea.
My main idea for this animation project is basically, i'm going to create a 3D Character class introduction animation.
I'm planning on giving the viewers a brief preview of the way each class works in the game that i'm making called Reclamation. It's going to consist of the 6 classes:
[Scout, Soldier, Tank, Medic, Engineer & Technician]
I plan on using this animation to get the word out about the new game which is currently a work in progress, and will hopefully get people interested, and checking out any upcoming updates and spreading the word about Reclamation!
The main Story line for it is the group of the 6 classes are trying to reach this building without being caught by mobs, when the scout tries to make a break for it, he gets sprung in an ambush and has to use his agility and other various skills (Don't want to give away to much haha) to get to the target location!
From there on you also see how the other classes use their main unique styles to reach the target location as well!
Hopefully you'll see this happy chap in the Animation to!
i'll release more information when i work out exactly what the information is! O.o
Cheers - Kyle
